Today it has been reported that
producer Lionel Wigram is continuing development work on a third film:
''We're still trying to crack the story
together. For us, if we're going to do a third 'Sherlock Holmes', it has to be
fantastic, so we have to be really confident that we can give the audience a
story that makes them say, 'Wow, this was worth it, this was better than the
last two.'
There is certainly great potential in this film series being revived. Downey Jr. and Jude Law are a charismatic Sherlock and Watson and are young enough to continue playing the characters for many more years. The previous two films both made over $500 million at the global box office.
