Previews of upcoming ITV dramas

ITV have released a trailer for their Autumn dramas:

As well as returning series and Jekyll and Hyde (which recently had a full trailer released), the trailer features shots from three exciting new shows in the crime, thriller, horror and supernatural genres:

Unforgotten - a six-part crime thriller.
After a young man’s skeleton is discovered underneath a property in London, an investigation into a historical murder begins.  Detectives played by Nicola Walker and Sanjeev Bhasker unravel secrets kept since 1976 involving four suspects played by Trevor Eve, Bernard Hill,  Ruth Sheen and Tom Courtenay.

The Frankenstein Chronicles - a six-part period crime-horror series.
Rather than a straight adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, this series set in 1827 London follows the investigations of Inspector John Arlott (Sean Bean) after the discovery of a mutilated corpse.

Midwinter of the Spirit - a three-part supernatural crime thriller.
Anna Maxwell-Martin plays Merrily Watkins, a single mother and exorcist who assists the police with a murder investigation.  Behind the camera are an experienced creative team:  The scriptwriter is Stephen Volk who wrote spooky TV dramas Ghostwatch and Afterlife and feature film The Awakening.  The director is Richard Clark (Doctor Who, Whitechapel, Life on Mars, The Musketeers) and the producer is Phil Collinson (Doctor Who, Coronation Street).

The character of Merrily Watkins featured in 12 books written by Phil Rickman so if successful, this series is likely to return.
